Thank you everyone! We just completed another great week at SRL. We are ready say good bye to September, and welcome in October. Congratulations to our students who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday. We love you, and are very proud of each of you!
1.) This coming week our Faculty and Staff will be preparing for the Renaissance Star Assessments. Students in Grades 2 through 8 will take these assessments in both Language Arts and Math. Each of the 2 assessments is between 20 and 40 minutes, and students will use their individual Chromebooks for testing. Students working from home will sit for the Assessments at a different time than their class, and will be notified of sign in information so they can complete the Assessments from home. This year we will have 3 Rounds of Star Assessments, and Round I for SRL will begin on Monday, October 5th. Round I will be completed on October 9th, so students who miss school the week of the Assessments, will not be able to make them up, but will begin with Round 2 later in the school year.
2.) We have been experiencing some difficulty with the Internet particularly in the last week. Each of our students has been assigned their own device, and with everyone trying to access the Internet, it has been difficult. We are working on making improvements, and just this week have purchased more than double the bandwidth. Additionally we are working with IT specialists to determine how to proceed, what needs to be improved to maximize Internet access. We are all looking forward to a much faster Internet speed in the near future.
3.) This week with the help of a volunteer Dad, we have made modifications to improve the flow of traffic during morning drop off. Parents who choose to enter the property on Randolph Street are committing to use the drop off lane. If you wish to park and walk, you must enter on South Street. I have attached a map to assist you with morning drop off.
4.) Mrs. Amanda Sergi is our new PTA president. Thank you Amanda for accepting this challenge!
Our hardworking PTA is an integral part of the SRL family. Our PTA is a member of the Diocesan PTA, and works tirelessly to provide our students and families with exciting experiences both during and after school while fundraising in support of the school budget. During the last school year when we closed due to the pandemic, our PTA missed out on 5 major fundraising events, and still met their fundraising goal, and presented the school with a check for $35,000 in June. Although the pandemic has required us to temporarily change the way we do business, we are still brainstorming and planning events to benefit all. Because there is much work to do, we are looking for your help. Please read the attached letter from Amanda carefully, and contact her if you are willing to help out.
5.) This is just a reminder, please be sure to check your child's temperature before you send them to school each day, and sign off on the health screening in Genesis. By now everyone should be able to access their Genesis account information. We still have many families who are not inputting the information into Genesis, and sending notes instead. We run a report every morning to determine which students did not have their temperature checked at home, and have to take the temperature of those students. If you still need help accessing Genesis contact Mrs. Lisa Moore at email@example.com. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
6.) If your child arrives at school after 7:45am, they must report to the school office to get a late pass before going to their classroom. Please remind them.
7.) All bus forms were forwarded to the appropriate districts for processing, and you should be hearing about your credit soon.
8.) Please visit the Honeywell Instant Alert System link on the school website to establish or update your account with your most recent information.
9.) We are looking to hire a playground coordinator to manage outside recess daily. The position will be seasonal and only necessary in the fall and spring when students can go out and play on the field. The position will require approximately one hour per day, for 5 days, and the weekly compensation will be $150. Please email me if you are interested in applying for this position.
10.)We are looking for a new or gently used microwave to replace the one that we have for the use of Faculty and Staff. If you would like to donate this item, please email me.
Thought for the Week...
Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.
