Hello! I am Mrs. Losche, the music teacher here at St. Rose of Lima School. I will also be teaching communications and technology in the 2024-2025 school year. My duties at St. Rose also include yearbook advisor as well as music director for our spring musical.
Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I am so excited to share it with your children. My goal is to help my students enjoy music through listening, movement, performance, and play. I hope to instill in them an appreciation of music that they can carry with them throughout their lives.
I am looking forward to exploring the world of communications and technology with your children. In all grades, we will discuss internet safety and etiquette, basic technology skills, the exploration of Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings), and typing. Elementary grades will also explore fundamental communication skills such as listening, fairness, coping, self-control, kindness, cooperation, resolving conflict, respect, integrity, having a positive attitude, being responsible, and being a good friend. Fifth and sixth graders will concentrate on the presentation of ideas through public speaking, digital media, visual displays, storytelling, proper email etiquette, and letter writing. Seventh grade will help me with our school yearbook and work on projects that will enhance their skills in Canva. Eighth grade will design and produce our school's digital newspaper.
Grading
Our report cards look a bit different this year. Please see the letter grade description as well as the number grade translation for each grade below. Please note that although you may see a number grade in the parent portal, the student grades for music and comm/tech will appear on the report cards as follows:
E = Exceeding Expectations
This designation means that the results of the student’s efforts during a given marking period go beyond the progress expected at this grade level. If this rating were to be expressed numerically, the range would fall between 94.5 – 100.
M = Meeting Expectations
This designation means that the results of the student’s efforts during a given marking period fall in an area of progress that is expected at this grade level. If this rating were to be expressed numerically, the range would fall between 84.5 – 94.4.
G = Growing Proficiency
This designation means that the results of the student’s efforts during a given marking period are approaching the degree of progress that expected at this grade level. If this rating were to be expressed numerically, the range would fall between 74.5 – 84.4.
L = Limited Proficiency
This designation means that the results of the student’s efforts during a given marking period are falling below the degree of progress that expected at this grade level. If this rating were to be expressed numerically, the range would fall between 74.4 and below.
