Good Morning Everyone! We had a productive and fun-filled week at SRL. Our PTA sponsored the Pushcart Players who performed the play, A More Perfect Union, which is an original show that tells the story of how the U.S. Constitution was written and ratified. The players met with students for a question and answer session after the performance. Additionally, teachers were given a study guide to preview before the play, and to use for instruction after the performance.
We are now connected with Twitter! Join the fun! Follow us @StFreehold to find out what's going on during the school day (see the link on the bottom of this page). Shortly, we will be linking our Twitter account to the SRL website. Stay tuned!
A grandparent who attended our Grandparent's/Special Person's Day was so impressed with our show that he invited our students to perform the finale at a local Department of Defense Program honoring Veterans of the Vietnam War. We will be working with our music teacher, Mrs. Losche and asking for volunteer students. Students will receive more information in their music classes.
We are looking for volunteers to do grant research and writing for our school. We are interested in acquiring grants of all different types including student centered programs, enhancement to all areas of the curriculum, additional athletic programs for our students and parents, and capital improvements. If this is your gift and talent, and are interested in helping us, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Calling all gardeners! We would like to start a SRL Community Garden in the spring in order to help our students understand sustainable living, and teach them how to grow fruits and vegetables. We need your help. If you know how to plant and are interested in helping us with this project, please contact us at your earliest convenience.
This week we hosted a new Principals' Meeting, and were joined by the Superintendent of Schools, and Associate Superintendent. They were in awe of our students' beautiful art work lining the hallways. Thank you, Mrs. Brown for sharing your talents, and helping the students of SRL to become such wonderful artists!
It was a great week at SRL! I had the opportunity to observe several classes, and am excited to report the exceptional teaching and learning that is happening every day in our classrooms. We are blessed to have such talented teachers and staff. Our students are engaged in continuous inquiry and learning. They are dissecting plants, writing essays and drawing gnomes to mention a few activities.
Thank you to all of our hardworking volunteer parents, including our many coaches, PTA members, Bingo volunteers, and cafeteria workers. Your contributions of time and talent make SRL a special place.
Thought for the Week...
Christ has no body now but ours. No hands, no feet on earth but ours. Ours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on this world. Ours are the feet with which he walks in the world. Ours are the hands through which he blesses the world. Ours are his hands, ours are his feet, ours are his eyes, and we are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but ours. (Adapted from a prayer by St. Teresa of Avila)
